First Views from New Apartment

After over a week of living at the new apartment, I've finally gotten around to a bit more photography from the balcony here. This morning was a pretty cool sunrise, and I managed to capture a nice photo of the hot air balloons that often glide over the city skyline in the morning. And then tonight I played around a bit with night photography from the balcony as well.

The view from the balcony here is so cool that I feel like I could get a bit obsessive, and post far too may photos of slight variations of the same view. So I'm gonna hold back a bit and see what sorts of conditions make for different light and interesting effects. I can already tell that incoming weather is going to make for an interesting subject from time to time.

Moved House

So I moved house once again last week...

Long story short: my parents are often living and working interstate or overseas, and it's been a recurring theme in my life over the years to house-sit for them. They are now embarking on six months of living and working interstate, and then possibly another year of living overseas. So in that time I'll be renting their place from them (for quite generously low rent for what it is) while living alone in it, so they can keep their "home base" of sorts in Melbourne.

The move last week was a bit of a nightmare. It's been a while since I've had to move with so much stuff. To their credit, they didn't really expect tooooooo much help from me, but there was a still a level of clutter which reminded me of just how much easier moving is when you're the relative minimalist that I am today!

Anyway, the new place is very nice. It's a large, modern apartment building with very good facilities. It is on St Kilda Road, a few kilometers south of the Melbourne CBD. It has quite awesome views to the north and west, which I'll get around to photographing a lot over time I'm sure. For a little taste: the pic below is our view from the balcony on a sunny day.
