Late Afternoon Walk at Albert Park Lake

I've been quite sick with a bad respiratory infection for the last few days, so I've been lying low. But each day I took at least 1-2 little walks around my new local area.

Yesterday was a lovely afternoon for a walk around nearby Albert Park Lake, so I went there for the last hour and a half leading up to sunset. It was great. It's been a mild summer so it was actually a bit of a cool and even slightly brisk afternoon, very refreshing after mostly being inside for a few days with a fever.

Albert Park Lake has quite a lot of birdlife, so some of the shots are attempts at basic bird photography, but most are just my usual land and city scapes.

Moved to St Kilda Road

So I moved to St Kilda Road a few days ago. This residence will be a relatively short-lived one. I'm basically house-sitting a family owned apartment for a few months, and will need to look for new accommodation later in the year again.

With this move, I've finally de-cluttered my life to the point where moving was actually pretty easy. This has been in keeping with both my minimalist simple living philosophy as well as my reality of simply moving too much! :)

One good thing about this apartment is that it has very nice views of the St Kilda Road precinct. Here's a selection of photos from yesterday evening and early this morning.

Experiments With Macro and Picasa

Just yesterday I noticed that my trial of Lightroom had expired, and while I was fairly happy with it during the trial, it didn't quite grab me enough to subscribe just now - so I thought I'd give Picasa another shot.

I took a pretty big walk around the Botanical Gardens this afternoon, and mostly ended up taking macro shots of flowers. Nothing particularly fancy or ambitious - it was just a nice sunny day to be taking photos of flowers, and I hadn't yet dedicated a whole photo walk to playing around with macro like this.

So here's a sampling of some of the best shots of today - most are untouched, and a couple are (obviously) twiddled with filters.
