Moving In Two Days!

So I'm moving to the city in two days. Well, technically at this point it's in one day - since it's 3am on Thursday now and I'm moving on Friday morning. It's only a little over 24 hours in fact!

Not much to say here - except just to acknowledge this semi significant life event on this blog. I was going to write a rambling treatise on what "home" means to me, but I think I'll save that for another day. I'm just a tad too distracted and tired from all the moving-related excitement.

Next blog entry coming from the other side - and from Melbourne CBD proper!

Random Bendigo Daytrip

I randomly went to Bendigo today...

No real rhyme or reason, just wanted to break out of routine a bit. I do this sometimes - just go to the train station and jump on the first regional train out of town and go on a little daytrip somewhere. I didn't do much there - it was just a solo hangout and photography trip really.

I tried playing around with the settings on my camera to take some manual control over things. In particular stuff like ISO sensitivity. It didn't really work too well. With a basic point-and-click, the auto settings are actually generally okay. But at any rate, I'm getting more and more eager to get a proper DSLR. Will probably be getting one soon.

Anyway, here are some of the best shots I managed to get in Bendigo. Mostly of the colonial architecture and general scenery.

Melbourne Tourist Day

I had the day off today so I decided to go out and do a couple of "touristy" things. Things that I never got around to doing in Melbourne since it's more the sort of thing that tourists would do.

Firstly, I caught a City Circle tram. This was very touristy of course, but quite interesting. It's always a bit of a strange experience seeing your own place presented for tourist eyes. There is a recorded PA voice on the tram talking about all the attractions that are passing by. It's easy to forget that these things are there sometimes. You take so much for granted when you're living in a place and mostly going through the motions of an everyday routine.

I got off the City Circle tram in Docklands, and from there I walked down to South Wharf. From there it was back towards the city along Southbank. These areas aren't necessarily very "touristy", but they're just not places that I've been to very often. But the next destination, Eureka Tower, is quite touristy indeed!

After Eureka Tower, I took a walk down St Kilda Road to the Shrine of Remembrance. This was the last stop before I quit and took a tram home.

Unfortunately, the first half of the day was quite cloudy, and in a fairly drab way at that. It cleared up to a fine and sunny afternoon just as I got home! But I still managed to get a few decent pics of the day.
