Cudgewa Road Trip

I just got back from a little four-day holiday to the far north-east of Victoria. We were based in a farmhouse AirBnb in a tiny little town called Cudgewa.

The vast majority of our time on this trip was actually spent in New South Wales rather than Victoria. It's not that the Victorian side of the border doesn't have interesting things to see, it's just that the NSW side has the Kosciuszko plateau, Australia's highest point, and a bunch of other related stuff that caught our attention to explore on this trip.

So both of the full days involved day trips relatively quite deep into NSW. First to Thredbo and the main bit of the Kosciuszko plateau, and then Cabramurra and other parts of the high country on the second day.

One of the coolest things I got to see on this trip was a bunch of steam devils. Despite being quite a meteorology nerd, I've never heard of these before. In this case, they formed as the sun broke through fog and heated up some moist, dewy meadows. They formed and dissipated very quickly as the fog was lifting, but it was a pretty amazing sight!

And as usual with these trips, there was far too much hiking to be done for it to be particularly restful and relaxing, but it was still an awesome little holiday!
