Around The Bay by PT

So yesterday I had an invite to go down to Blairgowrie, for an overnight getaway of sorts with my RA "non-girlfriend" - who happens to be working down there this week and had free accommodation in a holiday house.

Since I don't have a car and she was already down there, I had to come by public transport. As Blairgowrie is nearly at the tip of the Mornington Peninsula - it got me thinking that maybe going the other way (via Geelong and the Queenscliff-Sorrento ferry) might be faster. Online research showed that it wasn't, but then I realised it might be interesting to go the other way and do a round trip around Port Phillip Bay anyway - to make for a bit of an adventure - instead of coming back to Melbourne from Blairgowrie in the same direction.

The trip is actually quite smooth, and (except for the Sorrento-Queenscliff ferry) all legs are entirely under the myki system - meaning that a Melbourne public transport user can do it without having to worry about separate ticketing for any of the bus and train journeys it involves.

Here is how I did it:
1. Metro train from the City to Frankston.
2. Metropolitan bus number 788 from Frankston to Blairgowrie.
3. Walked from Blairgowrie to Sorrento (the next morning).
4. Ferry from Sorrento to Queenscliff.
5. Geelong suburban bus number 76 from Queenscliff to Geelong.
6. V-Line train from Geelong to Melbourne.

Step number 3 above was optional. You can take the 788 bus all the way to Sorrento from Frankston. But I wanted to have a little morning walk today, so I opted for that instead.

I brought my camera along for the trip, but didn't really concentrate on photography much. Mostly just wanted to document the journey. Here are some shots of the trip:
